I started this weekly newsletter back in January because I wanted to stay up to date with the world of energy and batteries in particular. Writing and trying to synthesize topics into a cohesive article is actually pretty fun and satisfying for me. I had no expectations of how fast it would grow or if anyone would even read it, but decided to keep writing anyway. Nonetheless, I have reached the 100 subscriber mark which isn’t anything crazy, but the fact it’s even that much leaves me very thankful. :)
Many of you may disagree with me about certain things or even a lot, but that is the beauty of communicating ideas in my opinion. Everyone can bounce ideas back and forth and share what they think, and these different perspectives can help others form better thought out ideas. This includes me too, I’m not perfect, nor do I think my articles are gospel (albeit well researched and thought out). I try to research topics from varying perspectives and form my own thoughts about them. My goal is to share my thoughts and perspectives in an honest and practical way.
One thing that bugs me is a coerced or “correct” narrative/idea. When some idea is correct and the decisions and actions are molded around can be a dangerous path. The purpose of this newsletter in the variety of topics I cover is to question narratives and try to look at things as practically as possible. Bringing economic realities into the picture can help think about the consequences of various narratives and no let an idealistic idea capture our thoughts.
I’m taking a break from the normal article format this week to say thanks to readers and anyone who has shared Better Batteries with others! I also recently moved and started a new job so it has been an adjustment period for me over the last month. If you haven’t already, check out these recent articles I’ve recently written about the realities of rapidly eliminating fossil fuels in Fossil Fuels Are Here To Stay and where electricity comes from/why batteries are crucial for renewables deployment in Watt In The World.
If you’re more interested in ramifications of the European energy crisis check out one of my pieces on the topic, No Rescue, EU. Back in July when it was written, I called out the European Central Bank’s (ECB) policy of inflation bailouts preceding the more recent round of energy bailouts, why Putin could play hardball into the winter which may be unraveling before our eyes, and why I think the monetary policies of the ECB are divisive.
You’ll also find a variety of other topics covered in this newsletter so check out the archive. So what’s coming next? Soon I plan to release an article or two about the 1970s and how the environment of that time compares/contrasts to what we are going through today. More importantly, what does it mean for the world moving forward in terms of the economy, energy policy, and more.
Don’t forget to subscribe or share with someone else who may be interested in these topics.
Make sure to follow me on twitter for current events I’m watching and comments on real time data which relate to articles I’ve written or plan to write.
