Everyone has been so desperate to pay whatever price they have to to buy a house the last decade. The irony is, if your scenario plays out, there will be a glut of houses much cheaper that no one will want to buy.
I saw a poll somewhere that even a decent share of people who own homes want prices to come down. I'm not sure they really understand what that means.
It's a no win scenario we've backed ourselves into---affordability will be a painful process. Same as the federal debt/bonds/stocks. Oh well!
